Carl makes holiday ornaments, awards, personalized items, custom tile work and much more. Monte's Woodshop
Monte Alberston, owner of Monte's Woodshop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, started his own part-time shop when he was 18 years old. At age 29 he was able to keep his store open full-time, and last year he celebrated 15 years of business in the woodworking industry. "I've been interested in woodworking since I was 12 years old," Albertson said. "This hobby eventually grew into a full-time job for me because of the increasing demand for the type of work I do." Located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and open for over 50 years, Cumberland Valley High School has gone through some significant changes in the recent past. Catania Medallic Specialty, Inc.
Catania Medallic Specialty, Inc. started business
in the basement of Ray and Faye Catania's house
in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1971. The company started
out manufacturing cast medals, medallions and
coins. While they still manufacture the same
products, Catania has also expanded into specialty
items such as lapel pins, belt buckles and laser-able
labels that can be attached to other metals or
used as a key chain. When Ray and Faye Catania
retired in 2003, Vince and Trish Frank took over
the successful business; however, the Catania

Tom
Longtin: Laser Cutting 3D Geometric Sculptures
Tom Longtin is a long-time graphic artist located
in Vermont. He studied mechanical engineering
and computer science, focusing on 3D geometric
computer graphics programming. He has won awards
and has been recognized all over the world for
his work in animation for commercial television.
He has produced videos, magazine and journal
covers for Gear Technology Magazine and Power
Transmission Design Trade Journal. Recently,
he has joined an artist’s guild in Vermont.

Kallenshaan Woods
With over 20 years of woodworking experience, Ken Nelsen of
Kallenshaan Woods produces just about everything from
key chains to plaques to business
card holders to pen cases. He also provides engraving services for
penturners throughout the country. “I’m
a woodworker by trade and try to stay within
the wood arena while using the laser, but I keep
coming up with new and interesting things to
do with the system.” One of Ken’s
most popular products are the wood-turned
pens he designs. Using a combination of natural
and painted woods, Ken is able to create unique
designs on pens. For example, his American flag
design is a beautiful combination of inlaid stars
